We are proud to announce the successful completion of a P&ID digitization project, where legacy AutoCAD-based, non-intelligent P&ID drawings were converted
into intelligent SmartPlant P&ID (SPPID) format. The project was executed for a global client in the oil & gas sector, aiming to streamline their engineering
documentation through SmartPlant’s data-driven environment. This project demonstrates our in-depth capability in engineering software migration, bringing older
CAD drawings into modern, intelligent platforms that align with current EPC and operational standards.
As part of the scope, our engineering and SmartPlant admin teams performed a complete SmartPlant project administration setup, including the creation of
reference data, symbol libraries, plant breakdown structures, and piping class definitions. A key project requirement was to replicate the
visual appearance of
the original AutoCAD P&ID drawings
in SmartPlant without compromising the intelligent functionality. Our team successfully configured custom symbols, line styles,
and title blocks to ensure that new SmartPlant P&IDs visually matched the legacy drawings while embedding intelligent object data, relationships, and rules into each element.
This digital transformation effort not only ensured seamless visual continuity for operations and maintenance teams but also enabled powerful features such as
data
consistency checks, report generation, tag management, and integration with downstream engineering systems
. With this project, Chemionix reinforces its capability in
AutoCAD to SmartPlant P&ID migration, offering clients a scalable and standards-compliant way to modernize legacy documentation.
If you're looking for expert services to digitize your P&ID drawings into SmartPlant, Our team is ready to deliver tailored solutions with full technical and visual integrity.
